Position: Track and Field Board of Directors – Member at large
Job Type: Volunteer Part-Time
About Us: The Trail Track and Field Club is dedicated to fostering a passion for athletics and promoting physical fitness among our athletes. We are seeking several motivated and knowledgeable Athletics coaches to join our team and help develop our athletes’ skills and performance. Our JD group is 8-12 years old, and our HS group is 13-18 years old.
Responsibilities:
• Attending board meetings monthly – bi-monthly throughout the year.
• Attend the Annual General Meeting
• Be apart of group discussions about helping our club move forward.
• Volunteering for several hours to full day during our Legion Meet
• Communicate effectively with athletes and parents.
• Communicate effectively with our board of directors and attend regular board meetings.

Qualifications:
• Ability to work video calling for virtual meetings.
• First Aid/CPR certification is mandatory (any costs are covered by the club if you do not already have it).
• Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check is mandatory (any costs are covered by the club).
• Safesport (online training) is mandatory (this is completed online and covered by the club).

Position: Track and Field Head Coach
Job Type: Volunteer Part-Time
About Us: The Trail Track and Field Club is dedicated to fostering a passion for athletics and promoting physical fitness among our athletes. We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Athletics coach to join our team and help develop our athletes’ skills and performance. Our JD’s are ages 8-12 years old, and our HS’s are 13-18 years old.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement training plans for athletes of varying skill levels.
• Coach athletes in various track and field events, including sprints, distance, jumps, and throws.
• Monitor athlete progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance performance.
• Organize and conduct practice sessions in a safe and engaging environment.
• Collaborate with other volunteer coaches and parents to execute training plans for varying skill levels and ages.
• Organize volunteer coaches for training sessions.
• Attend competitions and support athletes during meets (travel reimbursement is provided).
• Communicate effectively with athletes and parents.
• Communicate effectively with our board of directors and attend regular board meetings.

Schedule:
• Indoor Season: Tuesdays and Thursdays (all ages) from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM (starting back up in 2025-2026)
• Outdoor Season: Tuesdays, Thursdays (JD’s & Hs), and Sundays (HS only) from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
• Track and Field Meet attendance is at the coach’s discretion for themselves and the board.
• Additional hours will be spent on planning practices and the season.

Qualifications:
• Previous coaching experience in track and field or relevant athletics.
• Strong knowledge of track and field techniques and training methods.
• Ability to motivate and inspire athletes.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• First Aid/CPR certification is mandatory.
• Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check is mandatory.
• Safesport (online training) is mandatory and will need to be completed prior to the beginning of the contract.
• Certification in Making Ethical Decisions and Athletics Canada Sport Coach and Club Coach are mandatory. Certification/Training will be provided to qualified candidates by BC Athletics.

• Upon signing a 2-year contract, your child(ren) will have their club fees covered by the club
• Attending the track meets out of town with your children while having reimbursement for gas & hotel.
• Head coach will receive a monetary donation at the end of the winter & spring/summer season for their dedication and time.



Position: Track and Field Junior Development (JD) and High School (HS) Coaches

Job Type: Volunteer Part-Time

We are seeking several motivated and knowledgeable Athletics coaches to join our team and help develop our athletes’ skills and performance. Our JD group is 8-12 years old, and our HS group is 13-18 years old.

• Certification in Making Ethical Decisions and Athletics Canada Sport Coach and Club Coach are mandatory. Certification/Training will be provided to qualified candidates through BC Athletics.
